haha those fish were going nuts during the casting techniques
bass pull lots of line! bass are very powerful fish
Bass do fight hard even the juvenile bass give you a hard time I use Flys but on a conventional Rod and Reel it's not the right way to fly fish but I still catch fish!
I stopped fishing for bass do to the fact of them not pulling drag and being too ready to fish.
Hello I just purchased my first fly outfit and was wondering what type of tippet I should purchase. I bought and 8 wt and am planning on 8wt line as well thanks for the help.

Having an insanely hard time casting
Do they make weedless bass flies? Cus that's pretty important.
https://youtu.be/IRht3GBm9Kw?t=1073 Pete casts, fish jumps behind him, "Hey guys."
Go watch lunkerz fishing tiny creek fishing. Best video ever!
I regularly kill big smallies on black and white popper flies. Bigger tail the better. And hopefully durable.
I just started fly fishing about 3 yrs. ago so I'm basically a novice. I moved to Frankfort, KY. 2 yrs. ago and discovered Elkhorn Creek from a local cano/kayaking store. The smallmouth are fantastic and very plentiful! I just recently started trying poppers and had tremendous success. Many thanks for your video on fishing with poppers!
I just got my first fly fishing setup. Lots of good info on your channel. I just subscribed!! 👍
17:54 a fish jumped behind you.
Lazee days – just fishing is a great way to shop online for LiveTarget frog lures. These lures have earned a high rating so far in 2018. There is 5 different sizes available and start at $11.99 The website is http://www.lazeedays.com

Can in use a 4 weight for bass
This is amazing! I’ve never fly fished but you are getting me into it great info helped a lot also is the crystal river fly rod good for beginners it’s $23
But I don’t live up north we don’t have a lot of clear water or a lot of small mouth bass
Just got my first Fly rod set up and these videos have helped teach me a lot!
Is a 5wt too small. It's the only fly rod I have.
I always sight fish with them.
Thx this really helped
LOL 3:58
So, do you recommend a weight- forward line as opposed to bass taper flyline? Is river vs lake fishing become a factor when picking a line taper?
What would be a good beginner fly rod combo you would recommend?
Love these vids keep it up
17:54 Look at the water. You will notice someone who wanted to be on YouTube!
Not sure why I chose to watch this when the next fish I'll be trying to catch will be a grass carp
I first learned how to toss a fly when my stepmothers father took my to Blairsville Ga. back in 1991. I've been hooked ever since. 1st fish was a 12in rainbow. Last fish was cought this morning . 6lb large mouth bass on a poper. He was on the bed. Kept my lil deer hair right above him till it pissed him off. Love these videos. I always learn something new. Keep em coming!!
A weighted Rabbit-strip Leech is a Killer for sub-surface Bass.
Very good for fist learning!
Thx Tom. Great summary. I've been interested in bass on the fly, esp smallies. You've covered it all.
However the website url is old, wrong or changed. It's a pain to find. Here's the correct link:

Hope this helps. Tight lines
Helpful video, thanks. I like the mid west lake, river, and bass focus. I am wanting to add fly fishing to my outdoor pursuits. Peace from Nor Mn.
Don't forget the Kentucky Spotted Bass!
I wish you spent more time on the topic of sinking lines. I'm fishing for bass here in Central Texas while waiting for trout in NM in the fall. I am getting skunked every day. Weather here is very hot. I have caught a few small and medium bass on a popper and hopper top water flies in the spring. Those have been ineffective here in July.
Very good primer on bass. They are a blast to catch.
You don’t need drag for bass
Ummmmmm
You’ve hooked a bass before yes?
i think my 5# set up is good enough for 6lb fish
Idk how i'm not gonna hook myself when the guy who has been fly fishing his whole life tells you he's hooked himself in neck, ear and ass. Real confidence booster.
2:57 you say large mouth while holding a small mouth bass.
Awesome top water fly fishing..welcome to my channel guys..fly fishing malaysia
Good video but what about fish that DO pull a line? Or am i expected to keep 1 rod for bass, another for another type of fish, etc? Kind of seems like annoying….tbh
Yea bass sure do love frahgs
just subscribed, first troubles with fly fishing gear, thanks for helping me
Ok someone tell me I wasnt the only one to see that fish jump on the right side of the screen at 17:58
Thank You for Video, REALY Apriciate it
Did you guys see at 18:30 there is a nice bass who jumps out of the water!
Anyone know the name of the hook up mouse patterns at 2:10? Bottom 2
Why can’t you trout fish with an 8 wt?
Doesn’t the leader line size determine what size fly hook to use not the reel rod or weight?
i can use a crankbait on a baitcaster and catch more bass easier
Is there a video of Pete making majestic cast catching Palomino's? 😎🤔
Easy to follow videos. Looking forward for more videos . Just purchased a new reel & 7wt rod after my 1st setup was stolen. I am a rookie so I have more to learn.
Can’t believe that was a free video
Your videos are fantastic! As a novice fly fisherman, your videos really help to give me what I need to learn these various fish species and the techniques to become better with my fly rod. Thank you
I love this video, I teach fishing and fly fishing to Kids in Central Ohio. Please check out our programs kidswhohuntand.com
Great video, but way too many ads. Does Orvis really need the pittance revenue from ads?
Trout flies work!
My favorite streamer for smallmouths is a little crawfish with foam claws and 2 eye weights, it’s a beast for smallies on my 7 weight orvis green mountain series it was my dads it’s like 20+ years old I think lmao, I love the head shakes and the runs the smallies do on the fly.
I enjoy your channel, my rivers seem like pockets of water compared to where you fish. I like fishing for Guadalupe bass with my 3wt its alot of fun. I wish i could get my channel off the ground to do what you do full time.
This was a great presentation of fly fishing. Great job!
Black Bass are like toddlers: easily distracted, remarkably durable, and they'll try to eat almost anything. The difference is that bass aren't so good at shoving things up their noses, and people normally frown upon fishing for toddlers.
What’s the biggest smallmouth and largemouth you have caught on a fly rod.
Did he just say that bass seldom pull any line??? I live here in East Tennessee. We have the TVA Tennessee River system and The Little/Pigeon rivers . Smallmouth pull line harder than most here . Do not agree with that statement…
Come on up to Minnesota and the upper Mississippi, fun stuff Tom
Ew orvis, charges too much for a fly reel 🙁
The Bob Ross of fly fishing!
I use frogs, leeches , mice ,helgamites, wooley buggers,, synthetic hair bugs and my favorite is a bumblebee popper.
I keep.a cheap walmart pflueger fly rod in my truck and a box of flies for those last minute fishing stops on the way home
My biggest PB smallie is 4.6 lbs, my biggest large mouth is 12.4 lbs and my craziest catch was a 39in grass carp took a while to land it because I was using a 5-6 weight rod
So if i get a 8 weight for heavy flies can i also put a small fly on it? Looking forward to your response
Thanks
I love your videos! Thanks
This is the best and highest quality video I've ever seen, especially for fishing
Can you use a fly rod in a bass tournament
However it's a artificial fly or Mouse whatever you try it's artificial. So I think they should allow it
Thanks. Been fly fishing for trout since last fall. I need a summer fish closer to home.
Hell of a video for learning, thanks
I started fly fishing for Smallmouth in SW PA, pound for pound, bronzers fight!
Three things to remember when fly fishing for bass 1) Top water 2) Top water 3) Top water
